Schools in Strange Places
Most children go to school in a school building. But some schools are very different.
A school on a boat. In Bangladesh, there is a lot of water. Every year, rivers flood the villages, and the roads are under water. So some children go to school on a boat! The boat stops at the villages and picks up the children. Then the class starts on the boat. The boats have computers, and the electricity comes from the sun.
A school in the forest. In forest schools, children learn outside every day. They count sticks, they look at plants and animals, and they often cook lunch on a fire. They always go out, in the sun, in the rain and in the snow. There are forest schools in Denmark, Germany and the Czech Republic, too.
A school on the internet. In Australia, some families live on big farms in the outback. The nearest school is hundreds of kilometers away. These children have lessons at home, on the internet. The teachers are far away, but they see the children on the screen every day. This school is called the School of the Air.
