A Day on the Space Station
The International Space Station is about 400 kilometers above the Earth. It flies around the Earth about sixteen times a day, so the astronauts see sixteen sunrises every day!
Astronauts on the station have a normal day. They usually get up at six o'clock. They wash with a wet towel because there isn't a shower. They eat breakfast from small bags and boxes. Their drinks are in bags, too, because water flies around in the air!
Then they work. They do science experiments, and they repair things on the station. Every day, they exercise for about two hours. Without exercise, their muscles get weak.
Right now, it's afternoon on the station. One astronaut is running on a treadmill. Another astronaut is talking to students on Earth. A third astronaut is looking out of the window. She's taking photos of the Alps.
At night, the astronauts sleep in small sleeping bags on the wall. They don't fall down, because there is no up and down on the station!
