The Garage Sale
Today the Millers are having a garage sale. Americans often sell old clothes, toys and furniture in front of their garage. Bára is helping Jake at his table.
A woman picks up two T-shirts. "How much are these T-shirts?" "Three dollars each," says Jake. "And that jacket?" "That's eight dollars. It's more expensive, but it's warmer than a T-shirt!"
A boy is looking at the bikes. "Is this bike cheaper than that one?" "Yes, this one is fifteen dollars and that one is twenty-five. But that one is newer and faster."
Bára finds a box of old video games. "These games are older than me!" she laughs. "They're the cheapest things here: fifty cents each."
Sam is selling lemonade for one dollar a cup. It's a hot day, so his table is the busiest of all!
At two o'clock, the sale ends. Jake has forty-two dollars, and Sam has thirty-five. "I'm the best seller in the family!" says Jake. "No," says Mom. "Sam is the best. Lemonade is cheaper to make than a bike!"
