Conversation Workbook, level B1, lesson 1. Greetings, introductions and goodbyes.

Exercise 3. Listen to the conversation. A school reunion.

Petra? Is that you? It's good to see you again! How have you been?

Martin! Wow, I haven't seen you since ninth grade. I've been pretty good, thanks. And you?

Not bad. I'm in my last year at a technical school in Zlín now.

Really? I thought you wanted to be a chef.

I did, but I changed my mind. I'm into engineering now. What about you?

I'm at a business academy, and I work part-time at a hotel reception.

That's great. Oh, this is Jana – we used to play in the same band.

Hi, Jana. I don't think we've met before. I'm Petra.

Hi, Petra. Nice to meet you.

Listen, I'd better get going – my bus leaves in five minutes. But it was great talking to you.

You too. Let's keep in touch. Are you still on Instagram?

Yes, same name as before. Take care!

Exercise 4. Your turn. Listen, stop the recording and answer. Then listen to a possible answer.

A.

Hi! I don't think we've met before.

No, I don't think so. I'm Adam. I'm Eva's cousin.

B.

It's good to see you again! How have you been?

Pretty busy, actually. I've started a new school. How about you?

C.

This is Petra – we used to go to the same school.

Hi, Petra. Nice to meet you.

D. You must leave a conversation politely.

I'd better get going, but it was great talking to you.

E.

I'm moving to Brno next month.

Really? Let's keep in touch. Let me know how it goes.

F. Greet your teacher formally in the afternoon.

Good afternoon, Mrs. Novak.

This is the end of the recording.
