Star-Spangled Englishcw2-05 · Conversation Workbook A2–B1
Conversation Workbook, level B1, lesson 5. Requests, offers and help.
Exercise 3. Listen to the conversation. Moving day.
Hi, Mr. Horák. You look busy. Would you like me to carry some of those boxes?
Oh, hello, Klára. That would be really kind of you. We're moving to the fourth floor.
No problem. I can help you for about half an hour, but then I have to go to work.
That's perfect. Would you mind taking the small boxes? The big ones are full of books.
Sure. Is the elevator working?
I'm afraid not. That's why it's taking so long.
Hmm. Maybe you could ask the building manager to fix it. He's usually in his office until five.
Good idea. Would it be possible to borrow your cart too? I saw one in your hallway.
Of course. I'll bring it down. Just leave it by my door when you're finished.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
Exercise 4. Your turn. Listen, stop the recording and answer. Then listen to a possible answer.
A. Ask very politely to borrow a book until tomorrow.
Would it be possible to borrow this until tomorrow?
B. Ask the teacher to explain again.
Would you mind explaining it one more time?
C. Your neighbor has heavy shopping bags.
Would you like me to carry that for you?
D.
Could you help me with my homework now?
I'd like to help, but I have to leave in five minutes.
E.
Can you help me fix my bike? It might take two hours.
I can help you for twenty minutes, but then I have to go.
F.
Thanks for your help yesterday!
No problem.
This is the end of the recording.
