Conversation Workbook, level B1, lesson 6. Invitations and arrangements.

Exercise 3. Listen to the conversation. A changed plan.

Hi, Jakub. It's Bára. I'm really sorry, but something has come up.

Oh, hi. What happened?

My grandma is coming to visit on Saturday, so I can't go to the lake with you.

That's a shame. Would it be possible to go on Sunday instead?

Sunday works for me. But the weather forecast says it might rain.

If it rains, we could go to the climbing center instead.

Great idea. What time should we meet?

How about ten at the bus station? The bus to the lake leaves at ten fifteen.

Could we make it eleven? I promised to help my mom in the morning.

Then we'd have to take the eleven thirty bus. Does that still work for you?

Perfect. I'll text you on Sunday morning about the weather.

OK. Thanks for letting me know.

Exercise 4. Your turn. Listen, stop the recording and answer. Then listen to a possible answer.

A. Invite your friend to your birthday party on Saturday.

Would you like to come to my birthday party on Saturday?

B. You can't come on Thursday. Ask to move the meeting.

Would it be possible to move our meeting to Friday?

C. You're late.

I'm sorry, but I'm running about fifteen minutes late.

D.

What if it rains?

If it rains, we could meet at the mall instead.

E.

I can't make it today, sorry. Something came up.

No problem. Thanks for letting me know.

F.

So, Sunday at three?

Yes, that still works for me.

This is the end of the recording.
