Star-Spangled Englishcw2-08 · Conversation Workbook A2–B1
Conversation Workbook, level B1, lesson 8. Likes, feelings, plans and wishes.
Exercise 3. Listen to the conversation. After graduation.
So, Vojta, have you decided what you're doing after graduation?
Not completely. I'm thinking of taking a gap year and working in Ireland.
Really? Wouldn't you rather start university right away?
Honestly, I'd rather earn some money first. I wish I could speak English more confidently, and living there would help.
That makes sense. What kind of job?
Maybe in a hostel or a café. My cousin worked in a hostel in Galway and loved it.
I wish I had done something like that. I went straight to university and I sometimes regret it.
Why?
I chose law, but I'm not sure it suits me. I'd choose economics now.
I feel the same way about my choices sometimes. Anyway, I'm applying next week.
Good luck with that! I hope it works out.
Exercise 4. Your turn. Listen, stop the recording and answer. Then listen to a possible answer.
A.
Do you want to go out tonight?
Thanks, but I'd rather stay home tonight. I'm really tired.
B.
Which option would you choose?
I'd choose the first one because it suits me better.
C.
What are you planning to do this summer?
I'm thinking of applying for a summer job.
D.
Is there anything you'd like to change about yourself?
I wish I could speak English more confidently.
E.
Do you regret anything about this school year?
I wish I had started studying for the tests earlier.
F.
I'm going to apply for a job in Austria.
Good luck with that! I hope it works out.
This is the end of the recording.
