Star-Spangled Englishcw3-05 · Conversation Workbook B2
Conversation Workbook, level B2, lesson 5. Interviews and formal situations.
Exercise 3. Listen to the conversation. An interview for a summer job in the U.S..
Thanks for coming in, Daniel. So, tell us a bit about yourself.
Of course. I'm currently in my final year at a hotel school in Mariánské Lázně, and I've been working part-time at a spa hotel for eighteen months.
Why do you want to work at our resort in Colorado?
What attracts me to this position is the international environment. I'd like to improve my English and learn how big American resorts work.
What would you say is your main strength?
I'd say my main strength is that I work well under pressure. In the high season, I've sometimes had to deal with thirty guests checking in at once.
And your main weakness?
I sometimes find it hard to delegate. I like to do everything myself. But I'm working on it – I've started to trust my colleagues more.
Good. Do you have any questions for us?
Yes. Could you tell me what the training period looks like? And I was wondering whether accommodation is provided.
There's a one-week training program, and yes, staff housing is included. We'll let you know by the end of the month.
Exercise 4. Your turn. Listen, stop the recording and answer. Then listen to a possible answer.

This is the end of the recording.
