Mock test 2 · listening part 3

Part 2. You will hear a conversation between a student and a librarian.

Hi, can I help you?

Hi. I need some books about the history of New York for my school project. I have to give a presentation next week.

Sure. Can I see your library card first?

Here you are.

Hmm, this card is old. It's not valid anymore. But don't worry, I can make you a new one right now. It's free for students.

Great. How many books can I take?

Students can borrow six books at a time, for three weeks.

Okay. I found one on your website that looks perfect: New York, the Story of a City.

Let me check... All our copies are out at the moment, sorry. But I can reserve one for you. It should be back by Thursday.

How will I know?

We'll text you when it's ready to pick up. Just leave me your phone number.

Thanks. And is there somewhere I can work? It's really noisy at home.

There's a quiet study room on the second floor. You don't need to book it.

Perfect. Are you open on weekends?

On Saturdays from ten to four. On Sundays we're closed.
