Task two. Four people are talking about their last vacation.

Speaker 1.

I've always traveled with my family, so last summer I decided to try something different. I joined a hiking group on the internet, and we met for the first time at the airport in Lisbon. There were eight of us, from five countries. By the end of the two weeks, we were like old friends. The trip wasn't cheap, but it was worth every cent.

Speaker 2.

The beach was wonderful and the weather was perfect, sunny every day. But the hotel! In the photos on the website, the rooms looked huge and modern. In reality ours was tiny, the air conditioning didn't work, and there was a nightclub right under our window. We complained twice, but they had no other rooms.

Speaker 3.

We wanted to spend a week sailing along the coast. On the second day, though, a storm warning came, and the captain said it was too dangerous to go out. So we rented bikes instead and explored the islands by land. It wasn't what we had planned, but honestly, it was one of my best vacations.

Speaker 4.

Everybody told me Venice was a must-see, so I finally went there in August. What a mistake. There were so many tourists that I could hardly walk across the bridges, and a coffee cost almost ten euros. I'm glad I've seen it, but once is enough for me. Next year I'm going somewhere quiet.
